Regina Brown has been painting since 1993. She has been an active member of Capitolers since about 1994. She was in charge of the hospitality committee for many years. She then moved on to becoming the organization's secretary, board member at large, and first vice president. She is currently the group's president. She is a semi-retired elementary school teacher. She enjoys being connected with the students and staff. She has been married to Terry since 1969. They have one son, Tom. Their grandaughter, Jennifer, age 7 gives them much enjoyment.

I moved back to New York from South Carolina several years ago. Dennis and I have been married for 40+ years and have 2 children.
I discovered Decorative Painting when a friend invited me to a Capitoler's meeting over 4 years ago and I've been painting ever since. I also enjoy knitting, crocheting, sewing and gardening, but since I started painting, I haven't had much time to do any of these things! I'm very lucky to have found Capitolers and have met many wonderful painting friends.

I began Tole painting in 1991 in a continuing education class taught by Barbara Husted at the Voorheesville High School. I had always been interested in arts and crafts as my mother was a draftsman and professional artist. In high school I fell in love with photography and stopped painting in order to concentrate on taking pictures.

I immediately fell in love with tole painting just from this one class and have been painting ever since. I joined Capitolers soon after and have been involved with NET every year since it began serving on several committees. Highlights of my years of painting were a seminar with Betty Caithness in Leesburg, VA and attending the National Convention in Charlotte. I attend both NET and HOOT conventions every year and hope to do more when I retire.

I began painting in 1989 with Barbara Husted. Once I applied that first drop of paint to my project, I was hooked! I then began teaching in 1990. My love of painting and the art form has taken me to many conventions and seminars across the USA. I have previously served as 2VP of Capitolers and currently serve as President of Berkshire Brushes Chapter in Lanesboro, MA.; along with membership in several other Chapters.

I have been married for over 25 years and have 2 grown children.

I've been painting since 1997. I enjoy acrylics, watercolors and colored pencils. I don't have a favorite style. My favorite surfaces are pins and furniture but I'll paint anything from buttons to murals.

I have been painting since 1999 when a lifelong friend invited me to a Learn to Paint Day hosted by Capitolers. She told me it would be fun and I would come away with a heart shaped box that I would complete free of charge! I tried it, it was fun and the rest is history. I still display that heart shaped box in my home as my first painted piece. I signed up for a beginner's class and have taken many classes since, many through Capitolers meetings. I paint regularly with a group of painters at Tole Painter's Heaven with teacher, Dorey Joy. We most often paint a piece of our own and get advice from Dorey when we face a challenge on our piece. This keeps me motivated and painting on a regular basis. There is always something to learn or review at these sessions. I have made many new painting friends. I have been a member of Capitolers since 1985. I have held various Board positions and been active in New England Chapters Council and New England Traditions. I enjoy being involved with a group promoting friendship as well as a love for art of Decorative Painting.. My first paint and brush purchase was from a local stencil studio. In the fall of 1987 a storefront offering Decorative Painting classes opened and I signed up for the beginners class. Since then I have enjoyed the opportunity to paint with many wonderful teachers throughout the Capital Region and New England. I paint each week in my home studio with a group of devoted painters, appropriately named The Tuesday Tolers. We sell painted and faux finished wood, tin and canvas pieces at Fall Festivals throughout the Capital Region. For many years I was a meeting and event planner so having the opportunity to coordinate acrylic seminars has brought two of my passions together.

I started painting in 1998 at the Burnt Owl starting with beginner classes then moving to beginner intermediate, intermediate and finally just taking as many classes and seminars as I could. I joined Capitolers and served on the hospitality committee for a few years. Painting has been one of the best things I have done in my life. I have learned so much from all of the great teachers we have and I get to meet a lot of new people who share the same passion for painting as I do. Being a Board Member at Large is a way to become more involved with this great group of people.

I always admired what people used to call Tole Painting and wanted to try it. I learned about The Burnt Owl and decided to take a beginners class in 2005. When they closed I stopped painting. I still had a strong desire to paint so I found Pat Parker and joined her painting class. I heard her mention Capitolers several times and decided to find out what this was all about. I begged my sister to try painting (we were supposed to start Quilting) I took her to my first meeting. She had never painted before which must have been obvious to Dorey Joy as she got up and came over to help her. We joined Dorey’s painting group that night. I have learned so much from all the different VERY TALENTED teachers here at Capitolers. I am excited to serve as a Board Member at Large and look forward to all the painting opportunites that Capitolers has to offer. I am married to John, my husband of 24 years and have have 2 children, Sarah 21 and Cassandra 19. We own our own business Ace Pest Control. I have 3 dogs and 1 cat. I love to craft and SHOP.

I have been past President, Vice President and Recording Secretary for Capitolers and a member for over 15 years. I passed my CDA in 1994. I have been a teacher for more than 10 years and publish original designs in various painting magazines.

I am married with 2 grown daughters.
